Can you sell your Amazon seller account?

Cash For Stores buys Amazon seller accounts from sellers who are exiting. We have bought 1,600+ since 2020. Funds are released through Escrow.com.

Here is the honest answer, including the part most buyers will not put in writing.

Can you sell your Amazon seller account?

Not on its own. You sell the business the account belongs to, and the account goes with it.

That distinction is not a technicality. It is the entire difference between a deal that closes and a deal that falls apart, and it is why most of what you have read on this is wrong.

What does Amazon actually say?

Amazon's Seller Central help page "Can I transfer my seller account?" says this, in full:

"Seller accounts generally are not transferable. Seller accounts provide access to the tools and resources that sellers use to list their products and manage their orders. Seller accounts also include account activity history and buyer feedback. Every seller on Amazon must have a seller account and an agreement with Amazon that establishes the terms under which the seller lists and sells their products.

If the ownership of a business changes for any reason, the new owner must establish a new seller account."

Read it yourself. We would rather you did.

Two things are worth noticing.

The word is "generally". A general policy about accounts is not a prohibition on selling a company. Businesses that hold Amazon accounts are bought and sold every day, by brokers, by aggregators, and by buyers like us.

And nowhere does Amazon say you cannot sell your business. It sets out what the new owner has to do afterwards. That is a process, not a wall.

Why does everyone say it is impossible?

Because the question gets answered by people who are answering a different question.

Amazon's seller forums are full of sellers telling each other that accounts are not transferable. They are repeating the help page, which is about accounts, not about businesses. Business brokers say no because a bare account without revenue is below their minimum, so it is not a deal they want. Neither group is lying. They are just not answering the question you asked.

The result is a seller with a real asset being told it is worth nothing.

What is your account actually worth?

More than the forums think, and less than a broker's headline multiple.

Broker valuations quote multiples of a trading business, often 36 times monthly profit. Those numbers do not apply to an account that is dormant or barely trading. Forum answers go the other way and call a quiet account worthless. Both are answering about something other than what you have.

What actually moves the number:

FactorWhy it matters
Account ageTime on the platform cannot be bought or rebuilt
Brand approvals and ungatingCategories and brands a new account cannot access
Health and standingA clean record is the scarce part
FBA capacityHigher limits carry real value to a buyer
Category permissionsGated categories already approved
Sales historyDistributor and supplier credibility

We have bought 1,600+ accounts since 2020, so our numbers come from transactions rather than from guesses. Tell us what you have and we will give you a figure within 24 hours, free, with no obligation to take it.

How do you know you will actually get paid?

Funds go through Escrow.com, not to us and not through a private arrangement. Escrow.com is a licensed escrow agent, licence 9631867 with the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation.

That means the money is with a regulated third party before anything moves, and it is released on agreed terms. If you have been approached by a buyer who wants to skip that step, that is the moment to walk away.

Everything is documented. An asset purchase agreement, in writing, the same instrument used when any small business changes hands.

What if your account is suspended or has issues?

Tell us. It is still often worth something, and we would rather hear it now than find it later.

We have bought accounts with suspensions, with health problems, and with balances in reserve. Some we can work with and some we cannot, but you will get a straight answer either way rather than silence.

What happens next

Send us the account details. You get a valuation within 24 hours. If the number works, we put the agreement in writing and the funds go into escrow. If it does not work, you have lost an afternoon and learned what your account is worth.
